hecho con amor
ABOUT XOCHITL
Growing up, I dealt with identity struggles. Instead of being taught to be proud of who I am, I was told that everything about being a Mexican woman was something I should be ashamed of. The younger me was yearning to inhabit a different skin, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and emerged as a proud Mexican woman born in the heart of LA.
My cultural heritage, my language, and my community are not burdens to be concealed, but treasures to be celebrated and shared with the world. Armed with the privilege of a BFA in Drawing + Painting from Laguna College of Art + Design, I now stand poised to unveil the richness of my heritage, long denied to me. With each stroke of my brush, I honor the resilience and beauty inherent in the Mexican woman's story. My art becomes a testament to my pride and an ode to the unyielding spirit of my people.
